Latest company news about ✨Faucet Descaling

Is the water flow from the kitchen faucet getting slower and slower? Or are there traces of white limescale on the bathroom faucet? At the latest, when the water is only flowing in the form of droplets, it is time to descale the faucet. We will show you how to do this correctly in a few steps.

What factors contribute to limescale?

There are two main factors that lead to calcification of faucets and determine the time intervals at which a faucet needs to be descaled. Calcification depends on the hardness of the water on the one hand and on the age of the pipes on the other. The hardness of water should not be underestimated. You can easily find the hardness level in your area online. At the same time, the age of the water pipes has a significant impact on possible limescale deposits - old pipes are particularly prone to serious rust deposits. Without regular descaling of your faucets, massive blockages can occur, leading to increased water usage. Our quick guide can help you save money and reduce stress!

This is done like this:

1. Unscrew the mixing nozzle or aerator (screen at the outlet of the fitting) with pipe pliers.

2. Tip: Wrap the mixing nozzle with a cloth beforehand so that the pliers do not damage the surface.

3. Place the individual parts such as the rubber seal, metal ring and sieve into the descaling agent. Let the pieces sit for about a quarter of an hour.

4. Clean the threads on the faucet.

5. Rinse the descaler parts with water

6. Once all parts are free of limescale, you can reassemble the mixing nozzle and screw it onto the fauc et.

Common descaling products contain chemicals that can cause allergic reactions. If you are allergic to descalers, use vinegar or citric acid as an alternative. Vinegar should be used in a 1:3 ratio with water. Pro tip: Slightly heated vinegar works better for removing limescale.

Clean the entire fitting and descale

If the water is hard, it is recommended to descale the entire faucet once a year. This is slightly more complicated than descaling a sieve, but it is easy to do. But be careful: to clean the fittings, place them in a descaler for a few hours. Water must not be allowed to run there during this time. Therefore, choose a suitable time for this task.

1. Turn off the main faucet and the shut-off valve so that no more water flows out of the faucet. To drain the remaining water, you must open the faucet.

2. Place a bucket under the sink. Any remaining water will end up in the bucket and not on the floor.

3. You can now loosen the hoses on the angle valves under the sink. They are connected with so-called live nuts. It is best to use a suitable spanner for this purpose. A pipe spanner is fine, but using it may damage the nut.

4. Now loosen the fastening of the fittings. Pull the washer out along with the fixing plate and then pull the tap upwards out of the sink hole.

5.  Next, remove the bubbler from the tap and descale it (as described above).

6. To descale the faucet, place it in the bucket containing the cleaning solution described. You can let the faucet soak overnight and rinse it with water the next morning.

7. You can remove any limescale residue with a brush.

8.  Reassemble the bubbler and attach it to the fitting.

9. Now push the hose from the fitting back into the hole in the sink and attach the fitting to the bottom. Connect the hose securely to the angle valve.

10. Now you can open the angle valve. Check the connection for leaks. If water drips, you will need to tighten the screws or replace the seals.
